In lieu of or, for the intrepid, in conjunction with a test on Chapter 17, you may prepare a posterboard presentation that will be due on Friday, March 5th.

This presentation must deal with all of the issues surrounding the strike against the Pullman Palace Car Company that was eventually supported by the American Railway Union, led by Eugene V. Debs.You may take the perspective of a detached observer, i.e. a news reporter, or you may place yourself within the events as an involved participant in the strike such as a member of the A.R.U., an advisor to President Cleveland, or a U.S. Supreme Court Justice considering the case of In re Debs. Regardless of the perspective , you need to thoroughly describe and analyze the causes of the labor dispute, the course of events throughout the strike and the ultimate outcome for all sides.

An oral presentation may be given on Monday but is not a requirement.

A full but not annotated bibliography is required.
