Blue Project

Maryland is home to the largest fresh water estuary in the United States. Along with Delaware and Virginia, Maryland forms the boundary of the Chesapeake Bay. The true splendor of the bay is matched only by the problems it faces. Your project is to learn more about the Chesapeake Bay. Using the sites below, answer the following questions. When you are done, proofread your work and hand it in.

1) What is an estuary?
2) What is a watershed? Draw and label a map of the Chesapeake Watershed.
3) What animals would you see if you visited the Chesapeake?
4) How has pollution hurt the Chesapeake Bay? Is it getting better or worse?
